Napkin Idea No. 2
My name is Steven Cutler, I am a great peoples person and I have a strong work ethic. I have been involved with my fraternity for the past couple years and because of that my skills with understanding what people want have improved significantly. My aspirations for my business concept is to interact with customers and provide an experience they cannot get anywhere else. I am offering it to people who do not have transportation and who attend UF. Basically, I am offering it to students who cannot get to a grocery store easily and need help to receive this service. They care because if I am able to provide a cheap and reliable method for students they would have an overall better experience and would lose a lot of the stress in their life. I am able to communicate with people extremely well and this is what separates me from others. For this idea to work you need to have people skills and be able to motivate people to use the service. I think all of these elements work together and synergize to create a desirable service. I think the other issue would be to convincing people to try the service one. As for the feedback from my previous customers interviews I found some important notes. 1: Keep it cheap. 2: Keep it easy. 3: Keep it reliable. 4: Offer something that no one else offers in Gainesville. 5: Stress why you should use the service through advertising to students. All of these points are necessary to make my venture happen and I will keep them in mind moving forward.

Hi Steve,
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great idea because I know many students here do not have a car and do not like to rely on public transportation, especially when carrying out a daunting task such as hauling groceries back forth. However, this idea napkin was a little vague and since I have not read your first one I am wondering what method you plan to use for shuttling students around? How will they get in touch with you- by phone or an app or both? What will the charge for this be- by mileage or will you have passes they can pay for monthly like a bus? These are just more things to consider moving forward. Otherwise, great job and here's a link to mine: http://maursfirstblog.blogspot.com/2016/03/idea-napkin-no-2.html
Hi Steve,
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great idea. I don't live in Gainesville, so my only question is how does it compare to Uber? I've never personally used one, but if Uber is in Gainesville maybe you could partner with them to offer a Student-Necessity version (like you mentioned, groceries and so on). You could provide a student code for them to use when purchasing an Uber, and with that code the Uber will allow them a 15-20 minute FREE window for them to sit outside while you go in to shop. After the FREE window, they start a small charge in addition to the fare.

Hi Steve, Great post!
ReplyDeleteOverall, your idea sounds very solid. So what would you say the difference between your service and Uber is? Is this a bus/shuttle that would come pick up the students and bring them to the grocery store? Or is this an app that would send a driver like uber? Let me know, I look forward to knowing these answers.
If you have a chance, I would appreciate it if you check out my page and left some feedback. You can find it here: http://danielricciulli.blogspot.com/2016/03/idea-napkin-no-2.html#comment-form
Hi, Steven! I enjoyed reading your post and like that you are eager to help UF students with transportation. What exactly sets you apart from your competition? A lot of students go to the grocery and back by using the bus system on campus, so what would your service offer that would encourage these students to change transportation methods? And what exactly is your service called? Is it targeted to more than just students? Good luck with developing this concept!
