I personally believe that the next step in my venture is creating a service that is more open to what consumers want. So for example, if customers do not know exactly what kind of deli ham they want, if they were in the store they could try a piece each on and decide which one, I want to bring this service to customers. This allows them to have more options in what they want.
I think the thing that makes the most sense for my idea to grow in its existing market is to broaden the target audience. I realized that I have really restricted this service to college students who don't have transportation conveniently. I realize that my main resource is convince and I think it is important but I need to offer something else to open my field of customers.
For example, to continue to grow I should be trying to not just hit the college part of Gainesville but the entirety of Gainesville. This would allow me to get loyal customers who are planning on living here for a long time and not just 4 years before they leave.
New Market:
The radically new market that I believe is the best place for growth of my idea is the group of people in Gainesville who have a means to easily get to the grocery store but would want to use this service. The first step into this market would be college students who do have transportation. This would be a great transition step. I think people would want to use this service because they are already lazy and if they value their time more than the cost of the service then they would absolutely use it. That was one of the responses I got in the interview. I agreed with the interviewee and think that is a great example of a service mix that would make me successful in this market. What surprised me most was that people were so willing to use the service. I guess people really hate chores no matter what wealth class you are in and the higher up you go on that chain the lazier people get when it comes to things they consider "petty." I was not really surprised about anything other than that and I still this market is very attractive.
I have just compiled all of my interviews in one video below.
Hello Steve,
ReplyDeleteWhen I first moved to Gainesville, grocery shopping was one of the most annoying and hardest things I had to do. This has resulted in me not going grocery shopping anymore, I just don't do it. A delivery service would be useful however it'd be nearly impossible to categorize all items sold at the store via an app or website, and then bringing people samples would be a nice augmented service however is it feasible? I don't know. You can check out my idea @http://gainzvillebloggers.blogspot.com/2016/03/venture-concept-no-1.html#comment-form
Hello-
ReplyDeleteI think this is a very good idea even for people who aren't college students. Its hard to find the time to go to the grocery store for a lot of people. I think bringing samples to people would make your company unique but, if they are already using a delivery service odds are they already know what they like. Just like you generally don't online shop unless you know exactly what size you're. Great job, check out mine:http://basmacirachel.blogspot.com/2016/03/whats-next.html
Hey! I think this is a good idea. I know I have a hard time finding time to go to go grocery shopping. There is definitely a large market for this because people have jobs. I would still rather go grocery shopping on my own. Good job over all. Here's the link to mine http://ufent3003.blogspot.com/2016/03/whats-next-week-12.html
ReplyDeleteYour idea for the new market is perfect. I can go to Publix, but it is inconvenient for me to do that when I need to study or am already really busy. However, I am not sure I would need something like samples as I would probably just wait until I could go to the supermarket instead.
ReplyDeleteHi Steve,
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and post. I think the idea of letting customers try out the deli is perfect and will definitely increase foot traffic. I also agree that grocery shopping is very inconvenient and just targeting it to college students might be too limited in terms of numbers of customers.
I definitely enjoyed reading your post and you can check out mine at http://flatpeak.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html

Hi Steve! What a cool idea-- a sampling business!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a smart move to expand to encompass the whole of Gainesville and not only students, especially since most of the people who would use this would probably cook their own meals often, like families.
It sounds like a pretty viable plan for your market base expansion, so keep up the good work!
