I am a 3rd year Economics major from Jupiter, FL. I like to play basically every sport. If I am inactive I get antsy and bored and have no clue what to do with myself. I am particularly good at talking to people. It is one of my best qualities. I have taken on a lot of positions in my fraternity and have coordinated many different events. I think this business would be great for me to start because it takes string time management and coordinating skills. My idea is to have a grocery delivery service that could deliver groceries while also acting as a food truck for the people using the service. So basically, it would deliver your groceries and you can also have them make you a sandwich or get your meat from an onboard deli when they drop it off. This is targeted at people that cannot make it to the grocery store easily. Specifically, this would be targeted at college students who do have transportation. Most of these college students are lazy, they would do anything to not move and going to the store is always a task for them. If they had this service they would easily pay a few extra dollars to utilize it. What sets me apart from everyone else is that I make sure things get done. I do everything I need to in order to get the job completed. Many people wouldn't have the motivation to make sure this happens but with everything I have ever done I make sure its done, and done correctly.
I think all of these elements fit together. I think the part of my plan that is weak is the food truck part. It would be difficult to double as a food truck and a delivery truck. But, I think maybe a mobile sandwich station within the delivery truck would really convince people to use the service.
Steve,
ReplyDeleteI think this idea is really convenient. You are essentially merging two really popular ideas: food trucks and home delivery. As far as formatting goes, it would of been easier to read if you listed this in numerical order (with the questions), but other than that, this was a great first attempt at an "idea napkin." If you have time, check out mine as well. It is http://bongjukang.blogspot.com/2016/02/idea-napkin-no-1.html
Steven, I think your idea would be crazy successful if you found a way to keep the costs relatively low with the grocery delivery service. I know many students who would pay a little bit extra in order to have their groceries delivered or a food truck;however, if it becomes too expensive then college kids won't pay and would rather go to the grocery store. There are a lot of ideas about food- this must mean the on campus choices are not that great! I like the food truck idea, since food could be prepared on the truck while deliveries are being made. The key is going to be keeping costs down while still delivering food that is yummy. It would be interesting to run the numbers and determine how much extra students would need to pay to make this profitable. ReplyDeleteI agree with max, if you could keep costs low on the delivery end of things, you could make a killing, although you would have some staunch competition from deliver 352. This is a highly competitive market and you have your work cut out for you if you want to be successful.
