Elevator Pitch No. 1

Today I am talking about a great opportunity that would benefit students and other people who find it hard to travel. I found the opportunity for the idea of a grocery deliver student. So many people in Gainesville do not own a means of transportation and are left out in the cold to find a means of getting to the store. Then if they do make it to the store they cannot carry everything as you can with a car so they are limited to how much they can buy. My solution is a cheap and reliable grocery delivery service for people who can't travel. The name of my business would be "Reliable Delivery" to show that it is a reliable service.

  1. This would be huuuuge (cue Trump's voice). But honestly, it takes me about 45 minutes to grocery shop round trip and even though i do have a car, it still is a pain in the ass. I'd much rather outsource grocery shopping to someone whos willing to do it for me. The issue with this business model is in the logistics.. There have been plenty of companies nationally that have tried this model and few have succeeded. The margins for profit are razor thin and the key to success is an outstanding management team.

Would you joint-partner with grocery stores like publix? or would you be an independent third party shopper who buys stuff on behalf of others.

Additionally, how would the ordering process work? would you have a list of all the grocery store items from each store with their current prices? how would you update your website if an item goes on sale?

Again, I love the idea, but it's going to be a lot more difficult to execute than i think you anticipate

    Good luck!

PS check out the Postmates. it's an app that does something very similar but isn't limited to just groceries.

  2. Wow! This sounds like a great idea to me. I know that myself and all of my friends hate grocery shopping. I find that I end up going a few times per week because I don't like to spend a long time and I only get a few things each time. If I could order my groceries through an app or online and have them delivered I would definitely do that. I think that there may be some trouble in communicating exactly what item people want since there are so many different brands and types of every item. Overall I think this is an amazing idea and would love to see it work out. If you want to check out my elevator pitch you can do it here:

  3. Hey Steve,
I like your idea and I like how you executed the elevator pitch. You dresses appropriately and you felt more relaxed giving of a sense that you know what you are talking about. Although, I agree with all the points made by Chris and Preston about the logistics of such a service. Moreover, a delivery company that delivers your groceries to customers and grocery stores sounds like a lot of work for one company. Of course, we have 3 or 4 for more tries at the elevator pitch so I believe you have plenty of time to work out the little details. Good job and check out how I did my pitch and tell me what you think.
